Why are fine comfort shoes so expensive?

The “comfort” category of shoes is, as a rule, not cheap. A vast majority of the products on this website are imported, hailing from such locales as Germany, Portugal, Spain, and France. The benefits provided by our chosen products are second to none in the worldwide marketplace. Our business looks at a wide variety of companies and products in preparation for each season, so that our line selection reflects the absolute best and most current products available. At Montague and Son, we firmly believe that each and every product in this catalog is worth every cent of its price- otherwise we would not offer it to you.
Why do people wear these things? What do these shoes do for me?

Welcome to Arch Support School 101. The arch is one of the strongest, and also the most stressed, muscles in your body. Every step you take brings your entire weight crushing down upon one structure: your foot and its muscular makeup. The major element of this structure is your arch. Strong, supported arches allow a person to walk normally and comfortably. Weak, “falling” arches, allow the foot to torque inside or out (called Pronation and Supanation by doctors) causing undue stress on the calves, knees, hips, and back. Weak/ falling arches can be incredibly painful as they worsen a condition called "plantar fasciatis". Customers who wear our products do so because they are tremendously comfortable. The shoes are so comfortable because they support your arch, allowing your foot to rest and walk in a more natural position.
But my feet don't hurt. Why should I pay any attention to this website?

Each person is different, and therefore every foot is different. At some point, everyone’s feet will need arch support and comfort footwear. Feet hold up only so long under the strain of busy 21st century life- when they give out, the downward spiral is short and vicious. The key to this problem is preventing foot complications before they start; providing your feet with constant arch support lessens the possibility of future foot pain. Due to tremendous gains in fashion sense by our suppliers, many of our customers can not only wear our products for casual use, but also to work and out on the town!
What is size 39? Are these equivalent to American sizes?

The sizes you'll see on our website are in fact European sizes, not American (with the exception of Keen footwear). The particulars of perfect sizing too complicated for this question and answer format, so take a look at the special "Sizing" section at the bottom of this page. As always, if you have further questions, please call us at 1-866-471-6688.

What happens if I get the shoes and they don't fit, or I just don't like them?

We have a fairly flexible return policy. It requires the following for a complete refund: · Return the footwear within 30 days of original purchase · Return the footwear with the original box and receipt · Return the footwear in clean and unworn condition* *This is the most important part of the return policy. Montague and Son will gladly accept returns/ exchanges for purchases arriving in unworn condition. However, our shoes are made with the finest and softest leathers, and are made to break in easily. Once your footprint is visible in the footbed or the soles/leather uppers are dirty, we can no longer sell them to another customer. If you are unsure of your purchase, we recommend wearing them around the house with socks for short periods of time. Montague and Son will work with every customer to make sure an equitable feeling is reached within the confines of this return policy. Our hope is to provide you with enough information and live phone assistance pre-purchase that this section should never apply.
